INTRODUCING LOVE ON THE NILE
Inspired by Elizabeth Taylor & Cleopatra

Impossible to put a face to Cleopatra without the visual of Elizabeth Taylor from the 1963 movie: Anthony & Cleopatra. Notorious for the passionate love affair between the two leads, Taylor & Burton, it was also the most expensive movie ever made at that time. Notwithstanding the passions running high in the stars’ trailers, the real-life love affair between The Roman General and the Queen of Egypt was even more extraordinary than the one played out in Hollywood.

Between 40-41BC the inseparable couple formed their own drinking club known as the Imitable Livers, complete with wine binges and drinking games. Legend has it that the two in regularly challenged each other to see who could spend the most on a feast. Cleopatra ordered a final vessel containing nothing more than a measure of plain vinegar. Proceeding to remove one of her earrings, an enormous natural pearl, she dropped it into the vinegar, and both subsequently watched it waste away. When it had completely dissolved into the liquid, she knocked it back in one. Impossible to value accurately, it was said to be the largest pearl in the whole of history at that time, deeming the competition won by the witty and charismatic Queen of the Nile.

The Love On The Nile Rebelle features a double finger snake design with a black Diamond bejewelled body and Tsavorite eyes. Crafted in 18ct yellow gold with blue Topaz baguettes and a central Tahitian Pearl, perfectly depicting the infamous eye make-up that made Cleopatra so iconic - a killer look.

Limited production of 10 per design, each ReBelle is numbered and engraved with their individual name. Discover the collection online here or exclusively at our Mount Street Salon, click here for directions.
