Specialist jewellery techniques feature across the seven cocktail rings, with a combination of stones that I find work together but may surprise people. This approach plays to our strength, incorporating everything we possibly can in regards to our skills and craftsmanship, and visualising this into a collective. This is really us at our best.”

INTRODUCING ROCKET GIRL
Inspired by Katherine Johnson

The modern world owes a lot to the mathematical genius that is Katherine Johnson, a woman who in the 1950’s was known as the ‘human computer’. Were it not for Katherine’s extraordinary brain power, everyone’s feet would be fixed firmly on the ground.

Born into a segregated USA in 1918, Johnson’s incredible command of mathematics led her to become the first black woman among the first three black students integrated into West Virginia’s graduate school system.

Her early mentor, famed black mathematician Dr William W. Schieffelin Clayton, designed a course on the geometry of space especially for her. By the mid 1950’s, the precursor to NASA, NACA was looking into sending people into space. Today that kind of number crunching could be carried out on a hand device but back then computing was still at the fledgling stage. The only option was to create a bank of the best brains in the country, deposited at the front of that bank was a very young Katherine Johnson. In 1962 astronaut John Glenn was the first person to orbit the globe. Glenn may have been the recognised face of the space race but Johnson’s galactical calculations played a pivotal role in getting him and subsequently everyone else in search of warp 5 off the ground.

The Rocket Girl ReBelle is something completely out of this world featuring a central Trillion Dynimite cut Amethyst which sits surrounded by continuous Blue Titanium and 18ct white Gold. Bejewelled with Paraiba Tourmalines, Diamonds, purple and blue Sapphires presented in a the form of a mathematical code, drawing inspiration from Johnsons brain incredible intelligence.

Limited production of 10 per design, each ReBelle is numbered and engraved with their individual name. Discover the collection online here or exclusively at our Mount Street Salon, click here for directions.
